I’ve waited a little while to write this post. I wanted my family to know first. I wanted those who have walked with me through this decision process to hear it from me personally. But now I’m ready to tell all of you about my summer plans…
This summer, I will be enjoying winter at Thrive Africa. I’ll be there from early July until the end of August.
I. am. so. excited.
There have already been some surprises along the way: my work approved a two month leave of absence for me to go serve with Thrive (which is no small thing!), a friend of mine offered to help me think of fund raising ideas, and I’ve received so much support from those around me. I love talking about Thrive, my passion for missions, and justice. Telling people about my decision to serve at Thrive Africa this summer has given me that opportunity.
Since I’ve never been to South Africa before, I’ve had to do some preparing. No, I’m not anywhere close to being done (considering I have to move before I go too!), but I’m doing my best to use my time wisely.
While I’m usually very Type-A and have everything planned far in advance, my heart is having a hard time wanting to plan. I just want to be in South Africa already..serving the organization, serving the people, and serving my Father. I want to be whisked away and magically have everything here taken care of without me having to worry about it. Childish, I know. I just can’t flippin’ WAIT to do something meaningful with my summer, to do something that will bring glory to Him, to do something that is bigger than myself and my reality.
If you want to be included in my email updates while I’m at Thrive Africa, please let me know! I’d love to share with you what God is doing in South Africa and in me.
I’m South Africa bound, and I’m ready for God to rock my world!
