The world is full of lies; full of half-truths that can keep us from achieving great things. We hear the gentle whisper of ‘You are not enough’; ‘this is too big to tackle’; ‘How could my one action change an entire nation?’.
Sometimes we hear the deafening yell of practicality which paralyzes us mid-stride. ‘I can’t spend that much on a donation, what if I get into an accident and need that money?’; ‘Next year, after my raise I can donate more.’; ‘I can’t quit my job to serve, I have a good thing going here.’
It could even be a fear of going against the norm. ‘What will my friends think if I go on a mission trip for my vacation?’; ‘No one will understand why I’m going and it will just alienate me from my social group’; ‘We go skiing every year, I don’t want to miss out on that’.
Whatever the reason that has kept you from taking action, I challenge you to really examine from where the hesitation is coming. Use discretion in your action, but take action on something which you are passionate about.
My dear friend Alece has dedicated her life to taking action. She is the founder of Thrive Africa, an organization dedicated to ‘discipling believers, equipping leaders, and strengthening the Church’. They also are involved in AIDS prevention, pastoral development, discipleship classes, and missions trips. This organization is making an impact in South Africa and you can be a part of it.
Currently, Thrive has a God-sized vision with a God-sized request from you and me. They are aiming to raise $80,000 by June 1st. They are asking boldly and humbly for this new support and I am boldly challenging you to take action. Pray. Spread the word. Invest. Buy your friends Thrive Africa merchandise for their birthdays..or just because.
Thrive Africa is doing great things in South Africa. A pruning process has begun at Thrive Africa and God is doing amazing things through them. Join them and their mission. But don’t just read this post, click out of it, and think that knowledge is action.
