If you Google defined ‘proem’ you would see two definitions- one references a musician out of Texas; the other definition is that of a preface to a book. Neither of these captures my meaning of a proem. I am a very Type A person. I love lists, I love analysis, and I love hard facts. When I make decisions, I create pro/con lists to help objectify the situation. However, when I write from the heart, when I dig deep down into my struggles, the result is never unfeeling lists or hard facts. I write proetry- a mix of prose and poems that capture me in a more holistic sense. These proems are not edited and flow out of me in one stream of thought. These proems capture what I hold closest to me.
