Somewhere along the way,
It happened.
I forgot.
Small at first,
A forced smile here,
A choked back tear there.
I forgot.
Protective walls built,
Old wounds too quickly remembered.
I forgot.
Cautious answers,
Hesitant questions.
I forgot.
But slowly, I’m remembering,
To lower this adorned mask.
I had forgotten.
The beauty in a cracked smile,
The elegance in the struggle.
I had forgotten.
But I’m remembering.
To be authentic when it’s hard,
And laugh from my soul.
I’m remembering.
To drop the mask,
And be real-
No matter what.
I’m remembering…
That. Is. Awesome. Nomad. I love ya!
“laugh from my soul.” We should all do that shouldn’t we. Beautiful, Stacey.
